Цій дівчинці лише 7 місяців. Вона потрапила до Охматдиту в тяжкому стані, спеціалісти лікарні встановили діагноз — інвагінація кишківника. Така кишкова непрохідність може виникати у дітей від 4 місяців до року на фоні різкої зміни харчування. Через війну та брак продуктів мама дівчинки не змогла продовжити дитині звичний прикорм. Нова їжа і викликала тяжку патологію.
Через військові дії батьки не отримали вчасної консультації лікаря. Коли 7-місячна дівчинка потрапила до Охматдиту, без хірургічного втручання не можна було врятувати дитину. Операція тривала 4 години. Під час втручання у маленької пацієнтки виявили некроз інвагінату — омертвіння частинки кишківника. Уражену ділянку видалили. Якби патологію діагностували у першу добу, операція не знадобилась. Зараз дитина знаходиться в реанімації та продовжує своє лікування в Охматдиті. За рік до нашої лікарні поступає майже 30 пацієнтів з інвагінацією кишківника.
The war doesn’t let patients get timely diagnosis: Ohmatdyt doctors rescued a child with intestinal pathology
This girl is only 7 months old. She was admitted to Ohmatdyt with a serious condition. The doctors have diagnosed her with intussusception. Such a condition can be developed by children of age from 4 months to a year due to a sudden change in diet. Because of the war and lack of food, the girl’s mother couldn’t feed her as usual. The new food caused severe pathology.
During the hostilities, the parents weren’t able to receive proper timely medical care. When the 7-month-old was admitted to Ohmatdyt, the child required surgery. The girl has spent 4 hours in the operation room. During the surgery, the doctors also diagnosed her with necrosis of intestinal particles and removed the affected area. If the pathology had been diagnosed on the first day, the surgery wouldn’t have been required. Now the child is in intensive care and continues her treatment in Ohmatdyt. Our hospital admits almost 30 patients with intussusception yearly.
Родина з Чернігова до останнього не хотіла виїжджати з рідного міста, де з кожним днем війни ставало все небезпечніше. Їх будинок обстрілювався з першого дня повномасштабного російського вторгнення. Місяць родина залишалась у Чернігові, понад два тижні у квартирі не було газу, світла, води, опалення. Їжу доводилось готувати на подвір’ї, згадує мама Тетяна.
«Ми вивчили звук різних снарядів, дім трусився від обстрілів, ми ночували або у підвалі, або в коридорі, бо вночі починалось найстрашніше»,— розповідає мама Тетяна. Її 5-річний син Діма згадує: «У підвалі було темно, тільки одна лампа, а їжі не було». Хлопчик додає: «Стріляли сильно-сильно. Страшно було». Коли дитина починає розповідати про війну — мати витирає сльози. Але поїхати з міста раніше вона не наважувалася, бо Чернігів зараз захищає її старший син — він служить в ЗСУ.
Родина наважилася тікати, коли усі основні мости з міста були знищені. Залишалася лише одна дорога. Цілий день росіяни не припиняли обстріли. Як тільки родина проїхала міст та вийшла ненадовго з машини, почалася чергова ворожа атака. Перший снаряд потрапив в сусідню машину, в 5-ти метрах від родини. Автівка вибухнула, на щастя, людей всередині не було. Осколками уся родина отримала поранення. У маленького Діми сильно поранило ногу, в маму влучило осколками. Численні поранення отримав і батько, і старша сестра та її хлопець. Далі росіяни випустили ще понад 20 снарядів.
«Я бігла до машини, бачила довкола поранених людей, з відірваними ногами, я бачила мертву жінку»,— каже Тетяна. Дитині перев’язали ногу джгутом і терміново привезли до найближчої місцевої лікарні. По дорозі маленький Діма казав, що зовсім не відчуває болі, хоча мама не могла й дивитися на його поранену ногу. Першу медичну допомогу родині надали у невеличкій місцевій лікарні. Далі — направили в Охматдит. Зараз сім’ям продовжує лікування у відділення ортопедії та травматології. Наші спеціалісти прооперували потерпілих, дістали численні осколки з пацієнтів. Загрози життю зараз немає, на родину чекає реабілітація.

Up until recently, this family from Chernihiv had refused to leave their hometown, although it was becoming more dangerous for them to stay with each passing day. Their house has been under fire since the first day of the full-scale Russian invasion. Overall, the family has spent a month in Chernihiv. For over two weeks, there was no gas, electricity, water, and heating in their apartment. Tetiana, a mother of three, recalls that they had to cook the food outside.
“We learned how to define the type of shelling by its sound. The house was shaking from the constant shelling. We used to spend the night either in the basement or in the corridor because the worst began at night,” Tetiana said.
Tetyana’s 5-year-old son Dima recalls: “It was dark in the basement. There was only one lamp, and there was no food.” The boy adds: “They fired at us very, very hard. It was scary.” When the child talks about the war, his mother cannot hold back her tears. Tetiana says she didn’t dare to leave the city earlier because her eldest son served in the Armed Forces in Chernihiv.
When the family has decided to flee, all the major bridges in the city were already destroyed. There was only one road left. But Russian soldiers didn’t stop shooting all day. As soon as the family crossed the bridge and got out of the car, the enemy started yet another attack. The first shell hit a car next to them, just 5 meters away. The car exploded. Fortunately, there were no people inside. The entire family, Natalia and little Dima, his father, older sister and her boyfriend, were injured by shrapnel. 5-year-old was badly injured in the leg. Then, the Russians fired another 20 shells.
“When I ran to the car, I saw injured people laying around, some of them has lost their limbs, I saw a dead woman,” Tetyana says. They tied the child’s leg with a tourniquet and rushed him to the nearest local hospital. On the way, little Dima said that he didn’t feel pain at all, although his mother could not even look at his injured leg. The family received first aid at a small local hospital. Then, Dima was sent to Ohmatdyt. The family is currently treated at the Orthopedics and Traumatology Department. Ohmatdyt doctors performed surgeries on the victims and removed numerous fragments. There is no threat to their life now. The family is in rehabilitation.

Russian soldier shot dead the father of 14-year-old Yura Nechyporenko right in front of the boy.
The teen himself was wounded by the same soldier. However, Yura managed to escape. Together with his mother and brothers, the boy evacuated from Bucha. The family wants the whole world to know about the war crimes committed by the Russian military. В Охматдиті ми щодня бачимо дітей, що страждають від війни. До нас поступають діти зі страшними пораненнями, діти, на очах яких убили батьків, діти, які лишилися своїх домівок. Деяких постраждалих швидкі не можуть доставити до лікарень. Деякі з них помирають. За місяць війни в Україні загинуло 117 дітей, понад півтори сотні поранено.
Аби зупинити вбивства і страждання дітей, зараз у різних країнах проходить «Марш матерів». Українські жінки з дітьми, які були змушені тікати від війни, виходять на головні площі європейських і американських міст, аби привернути увагу світу до жахливих трагедій в Україні та вкотре просять закрити небо.

Stop killing of children: Mothers’ March brings thousands to the streets worldwide.
We at Ohmatdyt see the children who suffered from war every day. We see children with horrific wounds; children who witnessed their parent’s murder; children whose homes were destroyed. Some of them couldn’t get to the hospital right away. Some of them die. 117 children died and over 150 were wounded since Russia started its war against Ukraine a month ago.
Ukrainian mothers who fled Ukraine escaping the war take to the streets of Europe and the U.S. demanding to stop the suffering of the kids. They want to remind the world about the killing of children in Ukraine and once again pledge to the governments to close the sky.
Mothers’ March, which has adopted a motto “Save children of Ukraine,” has already taken place in Warsaw, Berlin, New York, Melanie, Vienna, Munich, Atlanta, Larnaca, Paphos and Limassol. The women marched into the main city squares with posters, photographs of destroyed Ukrainian cities and dolls in bloody sheets symbolizing Ukrainian children killed by the Russian military.

Тарасу ще немає й трьох років. Із самого народження хлопчика супроводжує вроджена вада — судинна патологія головного мозку. Тиждень тому у нього несподівано відмовили ліві рука та нога. Швидкою дитину привезли до Охматдиту. Зв’язувалося, у хлопчика стався геморагічний інсульт, в результаті якого виникла внутрішньомозкова гематома у глибинних структурах мозку. Врятувати дитину могла лише невідкладна нейрохірургічна операція найвищого рівня.
Лікарі кажуть, найціннішим у цій ситуації був час. Батькам неймовірно пощастило, що вони були у Києві й швидко звернулися до Охматдиту. Дитина потребувала операції 5-го рівня складності, яку виконують навіть у мирний час не у всіх лікарнях. Для цього потрібні найкваліфікованіші спеціалісти та сучасне обладнання.
«Коли дитина поступила в лікарню, їй одразу провели тотальне обстеження. Тоді ми вже розуміли, що маємо мало часу. У хлопчика було об’ємне утворення у глибинних структурах мозку, що тиснуло на здорові тканини, як наслідок виник гострий неврологічний дефіцит. Ми розуміли, що треба бігти в операційну»,— коментує завідувач відділення нейрохірургії Охматдиту Павло Плавський Pavlo Plavskyi.
Команда спеціалістів провела видалення внутрішньомозкової гематоми та каверноми. Надскладне хірургічне втручання тривало 4 години. Попри повітряні тривоги та обстріли, команда спеціалістів Охматдиту не зупинялася ні на хвилину. На всіх етапах хірургічного втручання лікарі використовували надсучасний інтраопераційний ультразвуковий апарат — BK 5000, що дозволило тотально видалити гематому та каверному. Також команда використовувала інтраопераційний нейромоніторинг для контролю рухових чутливих провідних шляхів.
Діаметр гематоми з каверномою складав 5см. Після її видалення, лікарі виконали зупинку усіх дрібних кровотеч. Завдяки чудовій роботі анестезіологів, дитина почала самостійно дихати ще на операційному столі. За дві години після операції у хлопчика почали відновлюватися рухи в руці й нозі. Вже за добу дитину з реанімації перевели до відділення. З батьком він продовжує лікування в Охматдиті. Вдома на маленького Тараса чекають мати та брат-близнюк.Ohmatdyt keeps performing complex surgeries in the midst of war: neurosurgeons rescued a toddler with a stroke.
Taras didn’t even turn 3. From his birth, the boy has congenital anomaly – vascular pathology of the brain. A week ago, his left arm and leg suddenly stopped working. The ambulance brought him to Ohmatdyt. The boy had a hemorrhagic stroke, which resulted in an intracerebral hematoma in the deep structures of the brain. The boy’s only chance for survival was urgent complex neurosurgery.
Doctors say the most critical condition to save the boy was timing. His parents were incredibly lucky that they were in Kyiv and could get to Ohmatdyt on time. The child required surgery of the fifth level of complexity, and not all hospitals perform it even in peaceful times. It needs the most qualified specialists and modern equipment.
“The child was examined right after we admitted him into the hospital. It was then that we realized how little time we had. The boy had a massive formation in the deep structures of the brain, which put pressure on healthy tissues, resulting in acute neurological deficits. We understood that we need to rush into the operating room,” said the head of the Ohmatdyt neurosurgery department Pavlo Plavskyi.
The team of specialists removed the intracerebral hematoma and cavernoma. The ultra-complicated surgery lasted for 4 hours. Despite air raids and shelling, Ohmatdyt’s doctors did not stop working even for a moment. During all the stages of surgery, doctors used the modern intraoperative ultrasound device – BK 5000, which let them remove the hematoma and cavities altogether. The team also used intraoperative neuromonitoring to monitor motor-sensory nerve conduction.
The overall diameter of the hematoma and a cavernoma was 5 cm. After its removal, doctors stopped all minor bleeding. Thanks to the excellent work of anesthesiologists, the child began to breathe on his own on the operating table. Two hours after the surgery, the boy began to move his arm and leg again. Within a day, the child was transferred from the intensive care unit to the ward. He and his father continue treatment in Ohmatdyt. Mother and his twin brother are waiting for little Taras at home.

Багатодітна родина Нечепуренко мешкала в Бучі. Найменшому із трьох синів, Юрі, нещодавно виповнилося 14 років. 17 березня разом із батьком він рушив у центр окупованого міста за гуманітарною допомогою та ліками. На той час майже два тижні у будинку сім’ї не було газу, світла та води.
«Ми їхали на велосипедах, коли із-за будинку вийшов російський військовий. Ми зупинилися, підняли руки, сказали, що в нас немає зброї. Але солдат почав стріляти по батьку. Він впав. Далі військовий почав стріляти по мені, дві кулі потрапили в руку. Я повалився на землю. Солдат ще вистрелив в капюшон, але куля не зачепила голову»,— розповідає 14-річний Юра, син загиблого.
Декілька хвилин дитина пролежала на землі, а коли російський військовий пішов, хлопець побіг до найближчого притулку, де йому надали першу медичну допомогу. Далі — дібрався додому, розказав сім’ї, що батька вбили. Руслану було 47 років.
Два дні родина не могла забрати тіло батька. Коли це вдалося, на руці убитого вже не було білої пов’язки, яка ідентифікує мирних мешканців. Її зняли російські військові. Крім цього поцупили телефон, гаманець і навіть ключі від дому. Дружина убитого розповідає, російський нелюд стріляв прицільно: у серце та голову. Родині довелося самотужки ховати батька на подвір‘ї свого дому.
«Три мої сини залишилися без батька. Я розуміла, що мені необхідно рятувати дітей та себе. Нам повідомили, що 19 березня буде «зелений коридор», втім до місця збору необхідно було дібратися самостійно. Ми йшли тією вулицею, де розстріляли мого чоловіка. Ми йшли і щосекунди молилися за своє життя. Ми чули вибухи поруч, нас зупиняли російські вбивці. Ми йшли і щосекунди прощалися з життям»,— розповідає Алла Нечепуренко, дружина загиблого.
Родина дивом евакуювалася на Черкащину, а вчора приїхала в Охматдит, щоб отримати медичну допомогу сину та офіційно зафіксувати поранення. Хлопчик отримав кульове поранення в руку, передпліччя та палець. Зараз життю дитини нічого не загрожує.
“We said that we are unarmed, but the Russian soldier started shooting at us.” The story of the injured 14-year-old boy who witnessed his father’s murder
14-year-old Yura Nechypurenko and his family lived in Bucha, a city in Kyiv Oblast. Yura was the youngest of the three brothers. The city of Bucha is in the midst of a humanitarian crisis: Yura’s family home had no gas, electricity, or water for over two weeks.On March 17, Yura and his father went to the city center hoping to get some humanitarian aid and medicine.
“We were riding bicycles when the Russian soldier turned around the corner of the nearest house. We stopped, raised our hands, and said we had no weapons. But the soldier started shooting at the boy’s father, and he fell to the ground. Then the military started firing at me, two bullets hit my hand. I fell too. The soldier shot me into my hood, but his bullet missed my head,” Yura said.
The child stayed on the ground for several more minutes, and when the soldier left, he rushed to the nearest shelter, where he received the first medical aid. Then the boy got home and told his family that his father had been killed. His, father, Ruslan was just 47 years old.
For two days, the family could not pick up the father’s body. When they finally did, they noticed that there no longer was the white bandage on his hand, identifying him as a civilian. In addition, Russian soldiers snatched his phone, wallet, and even the keys to the house. The victim’s wife says that the shots were purposely fatal: the father was shot in the heart and head. The family had to bury their father on their own, in the backyard of their house.
“My three sons lost their father. I understood that I had to get out of there and save the children and myself as soon as possible. We were told that there would be a “green corridor” on March 19, but we had to get to the meeting point on our own. We were walking down the street where my husband was shot and prayed for our lives every second. We heard explosions nearby, we were been stopped by Russian murderers. We were ready to say goodbye to our life at any second,” said Alla Nechepurenko, the victim’s wife and the mother of the family.
The family miraculously evacuated to the Cherkasy region, and yesterday arrived at Ohmatdyt to treat their son and get the official record of his injuries. The boy was shot in the arm, forearm, and finger. The child’s life is not in danger.
